Fearless on Fearless

"Fearless on Fearless" is the working title for my upcoming concept album. The title may change, but that's what I'm going to refer to it as up until its release. On this page you'll be able to view "blips" (short, 30-second samples) of my work in progress songs and download complete song samples. I'll also post album art and update the page with news about the songs I'm working on.

A Little Update

As of today (about 5 minutes ago, actually) I have four complete songs, or about 16:04 of music. I've done a great deal of planning, and it looks like the final product will contain 12 or 13 tracks.

As far as instrumentation goes, everything has been synthesized on a computer; nothing is live. It's unfortunate, but I doubt that anything will be recorded live, as I do not have any high-quality means of doing so.

There is a strong Eastern influence in many of the tracks, but it is by no means classified as "world music." Synths and other more traditional instruments (such as piano, organ, etc.) make up a large part of the music. The Eastern instruments have a great importance (and it has to do with the story of the concept album), but I'll get into that later.

If I had to pick a couple music genres to describe the music, I'd have to go with experimental, avant-garde, alternative, psychedelic, and ambient. This isn't exactly easy-listening. Its intention is to tell a story.

Sitar

So far, I have completed two songs, with the third being very close to completion. The album has a distinctive Eastern influence, featuring a sitar, baglama, Eastern percussion, and flute (among others). There's also the traditional side, featuring piano, guitar, drumset, organ, and so on. Finally, there are a number of special effects created with synthesizers. The different influences all contribute to the general story. Synthesizers symbolize nature, the conventional instruments symbolize the "main character" of the story, and the Eastern instruments symbolize... Hmm, I'll talk about that later. Suffice to say, the third song is almost finished, and features all three influences.
